Journey of a 1000 Miles
Hank DeBruin & Tanya McCready
20 years ago Tanya & Hank quit their jobs and moved to Ontario's wilderness to build their dream of starting a business, a family and creating a lifestyle around their beloved Siberian Huskies. They now share their lives with their 4 children, large family of huskies and 5 cats. Winterdance Dogsled Tours welcomes over 2000 guests from around the Globe every winter and Hank and their huskies have had many adventures from Maine to Alaska. The couple also speak and share their stories and lessons around overcoming challenges, teamwork and leadership with corporate teams, organizations and schools.
This book picks up where Iditarod Dreamer left off, with Hank dealing with the crushing end to his and the teams 2010 Iditarod race. But the fastest way our of despair is to set a new goal and the team signs up to enter the 2011 Yukon Quest - the tougher, 1000 mile cousin to the Iditarod. Jump on the runners again with Hank and the team for more wilderness adventures as they travel through the Yukon and Alaska, challenging mountain ranges, blizzards, wildlife and -60 C temperatures. With the goal to complete their first 1000 mile adventure and prove once and for all Hank along with lead dogs Lily, Strider, Maverick and the rest of the team have what it takes to reach the finish line!
