This novel is targeted at the 16-24 year old female. It is a YOUNG ADULT NOVEL. There are elements of Romance, Utopian/Dystopia, Science fiction. Thriller.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I need the design of a front cover, spine and back cover for a young adult novel. The novel is called Clackers. It is book one in the series Children of Saffire. A seventeen year old woman is transported to another world where she tries to get home. On the planet Saffire people reverse age. So each year they get younger. She will eventually become a newborn again if she cannot get home. The society thrives on combat and battle. The cities are ultramodern with gleaming towers and driveless cars.
I think the book cover should show the face of a young seventeen year old with black hair and blue eyes (the main character). She could be shown in three profiles each one the same person getting younger and the final side shot of a baby (e.g beautiful woman at 17, girl at 7, baby girl at 1 year old). This would show the reverse aging
Another idea would be something that can crystallize the reverse aging and the struggle of a young girl to get back home would be ideal. The heroine of the story is involved in gladiatorial combat and wears a red glove on her right hand.
I think the book design needs to somehow show the reverse aging. If that is not possible it needs to hold the reader so they pick this book over all the other book covers.
My pen name for the book is R. Arundel
the title is Clackers this should be prominent
the book is first of a series called THE CHILDREN OF SAFFIRE, this should be more faint placed below the title clackers.
This book is very much in the same genre as Hunger Games and Twilight series. Both these books should give the designer a good idea of how to proceed. Hunger games did a nice job creating a logo and then nice colors. This is another way to go with the book design.
A complete synopsis of the story is below
Demalynn, a seventeen year old girl is lying in bed. The next instant she is naked in front of a busy restaurant. The police take her into custody and inform her that she has clacked onto the planet Saffire. People who ‘clack’ onto the planet younger than age thirty reverse age. Each year they get younger. People who 'clack' over thirty continue to grow old. The society is divided into two groups: people who are over thirty are forced to work in the mines to provide thallamite, a mineral that powers the cooling stations on the planet. The citizens who are under thirty control the government and live a life of luxury. The planet Saffire has no live births. The most sacred book on Saffire, the Octavo, predicts that one day a child will be born called the Unum. That child will save Saffire. Demalynn realizes that she is the only person who has ever clacked that remembers where she came from. She is determined to find a way home. Demalynn is asked to help free the miners in return for safe passage home. She learns that her mother Jana has also clacked and works in a mine. Demalynn remembers her mom but realizes that like all other people on Saffire her mother has no memory of home. Or any memory of Demalynn. She is also aware that her mother is pregnant. Jana will give birth to the only child on Saffire, the Unum. Demalynn confides in Aiden, an eighteen year old boy who has also recently clacked. He tells her Jago Malcon, the ruler of Saffire, will do everything in his power to make sure that Demalynn’s mother is killed. Jago cannot let her deliver the Unum, the baby would take Jago’s place as ruler of Saffire. Demalynn must find her way back home and keep her mother alive so she can give birth to the Unum. But the most difficult task she has is to make some sense of her relationship with this boy Aiden.
