Accounting & Financial
We are two guys who have managed to go from working for a living to basically doing whatever it is that we want to do with our lives; without working too much at all. We've written a book about how we manage to do that.
What's your vision?
Project: Book Cover (front and back) Required elements: title, subtitle, author names, back cover text Title: Live on the Margin Subtitle: Learn to Love Risk, Profit from Fear, and Retire Tomorrow Authors: Patrick Schulte & Nick O'Kelly About the book: This is a lifestyle design / how to make money in the stock market offering. Think 4-hour Work Week meets Wall Street. A central theme in the book is that by utilizing the internet and online trading platforms, you can make money in the stock market from anywhere you have a connection. The title is a play on words and double-entendre: we teach you how to both "live on the margin" in terms of profit (margin = revenue - expenses) from in the stock market, and how to "live on the margin" of society by making alternative lifestyle choices. We give practical advice on setting goals, budgeting for their trip, and "extending the burn," (mini-retirement) by trading stocks and options in the market. The second half of the book is filled with our trading strategies. We re-define retirement and show the reader how to use the resources they have today to go now instead of in 30 years. About the Authors: we have retired early and retired often and done things like sailed around the world and RV'd across North and South America and Europe. We make money for our travels by trading in the stock market. We value freedom over acquisition, time over money, and definitely feel that "typical" first-world lifestyles are the opposite. Design: this is a blank canvas, so we provide the following as guidance only. Think Corona Beer commercial meets Wall Street ticker and graphs. Format: The book will be printed in 6x9' paperback through Lulu.com, but the main emphasis is on the e-book (Kindle) market. Therefore particular attention should be paid to the front cover and making sure that not only does it look great, but that it can be read in thumbnail format. Ideas we have bounced around include: The deck of a sailboat with an iPad and flip flops scattered about. Something to do with a line chart with sailboat/vw bus on it. Favored design elements that are not required: Palm trees Hammock Stock charts Laptops or other portable devices Sailboats / VW vans Flip-flop sandals Favored Colors that are not required: Earth tones, Oranges and Reds Striking Contrasts and Silhouettes Favored Fonts We prefer sans serif, but no hard and fast rules. Climb mountains, sail oceans, surf the best breaks, build schools in third-world countries, write a book, raise Peruvian fainting goats? What would you do if you didn’t have to show up for work tomorrow morning? Making that dream happen—stepping into an unknowable future for a life of adventure takes courage, decisiveness, an unwavering belief in yourself, and the willingness to take 100% responsibility for the outcome. Those happen to be the very same traits that define the successful trader. The skills you learn in pursuing your dream—through trading—might just remove money from the list of reasons you think that you can’t fulfill it. This book is about more than trading and personal finance strategies—we propose an entirely new way to evaluate risk, in life as well as in finances. By taking the right risks and ignoring the imagined ones, you’ll be paid with the one priceless commodity that is truly limited in your life—time.
