Buzz is an amazing artist and incredibly easy to work with! We are beyond pleased with the results and final product; it exceeds our expectations and then some. We look forward to working with Buzz on future projects as well. While every collaboration has its "hiccups", we were able to work through any that arose with great communications and steady determination.
I am beyond thrilled with the design work miai313 created from my book cover! Not only did he pay careful attention to the brief, but he brought the original vision to life in a way that was more than I ever imagined. He was super-responsive and turned around revisions and mockups almost instantly. I will certainly work with him again. And I highly recommend him to anyone considering design work for their project. I'd give him 10 stars if I could!
Fantastic! I ran a contest, and Abdo was the most responsive from the get-go. He modified the design according to my suggestions, immediately and effectively. He was always patient, even when I covered his proposals with comments. His work ethic encouraged me to complete the contest, and I am super satisfied with his post-contest service orientation: he was still willing to tweak and modify details until I was totally satisfied. I am thrilled with my exciting book cover, and so are my email list, who have been voting his designs top of the polls every step of the way!

The Boy Who Would Be Prime
A science fiction & fantasy writer for young adults.
Young Adult, Fantasy, Fiction
Since birth, Toch has prepared for his destiny: to become the Prime, the being who would save his race from the oppressive Spidon. Perfected over uncountable generations, the genetic power that will free them lies dormant until he reaches maturity. Until then, with the help of his friend and Protector, he needs to stay hidden—and safe—from the Spidon. Everything goes according to the Plan, until a traitor reveals the truth about Toch, putting the future of their entire race in danger . . .
Young adults (ages 7-14), both boys and girls, who enjoy science fiction/fantasy
Draws the eyes in to the cover. Layered.
Very standard sci-fi cover. Futuristic.
Simple, strong colours. Eye-catching.
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Looking for a cover for science fiction book for young adults. Some imagery from the book that might help build elements for the cover:
- a planet/civilization in ruins
- a huge spaceship hovering high in the sky over the planet like a moon
- pre-adolescent boy (age 10-13?) dressed in rags/dirty clothes - his eyes could be glowing, or, if that makes him look too zombie-ish, perhaps a glow surrounding his body instead (don't want him to look like a zombie, but powerful with energy)
- a shadowy figure threatening the boy (perhaps like a face-to-face showdown) - the figure is very tall alien that is a cross of huge ogre with a lobster/crab, so has huge claws instead of arms/hands
I don't have exact ideas om what I'm looking for - open to ideas. But want a science fiction feel to it, perhaps a bit of a collage of some of the above images/ideas. Don't need to take them too literally.
What to avoid
The story only takes place on the ruined planet, not in space, so no images of space-scapes with stars and planets or spaceships flying through space. I'd like to cover image based on the planet surface.
