LIFE BEYOND BULLETS
Ankur Mahajan is an author based in Ottawa and currently works for the Government of Canada. Ankur has previously worked with several International Organizations and INGOs with assignments in Afghanistan, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Uzbekistan, China, and Indonesia. A cultural tourist, he is passionate about learning about life through traveling, meeting new people from various backgrounds, and exploring new things. A certified Project Manager, Ankur possesses a Master’s degree, in Economics/Finance from Cardiff University, UK as well as a Masters of Education in Post-Secondary Studies from Memorial University, Canada, and a Bachelors in Economics and Management from Purdue University, USA.
Having lived in developing and war-torn countries for many years, memoirist Ankur Mahajan looks deeply at his experiences living in rural Afghanistan and various countries in West Africa. The book addresses the cross-cultural, political, gender, economic, security, and religious issues of war zones and least developed nations as directly observed by the author. The author’s concern throughout is on ways of fitting in and gaining acceptance from the resident population. He charts ways to win the trust of local people, depicting the development ideologies, dangers that he and others have faced, intelligence and security issues, and lessons learned about reintegrating after returning from various development missions in dangerous and less-developed locales. This book goes beyond conventional war and development books with pictures that provide a unique window into the challenges and realities of everyday life, a long distance from the diplomatic and media bubbles most people are familiar with. Hence the title, Life Beyond Bullets.
The book is meant for anyone who likes traveling, as it discusses cross-cultural and adaptability issues. It is a great tool for international development workers, journalists, diplomats, foreign workers, military, security, and adventure seekers, as it depicts life in war and developing nations.

Other color requirements
This is a memoir about life in Afghanistan and West Africa. Use colors that can portray the readers that the book is about life in wars and least developed nations. Please don't use white or grey.
The book is about life in war zones and least developed nations. I would like a fresh, modern, clear, and creative book cover. I would be printing in 6 X 9 size for my paperback and hardcover. It should be readable from the small thumbnail. Use fonts meant for nonfiction memoirs. Please provide back cover if possible as well.
What to avoid
No white or grey backgrounds. Also, please don't put my picture on the front cover. Another thing is that I don't want the book cover to only reflect Afghanistan or its people, as its also a memoir of West Africa as well, and vice versa. Use themes that can either complement both the geographical areas or something different, but not just one particular area.

Very talented, creative, and extremely patient designer. Very happy with the final design after several back and forth changes we made. Would definitely recommend and hire him again.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
