Homeless in Africa
The best way to learn something is to dive into the deep end. I follow my mind wherever it goes. My first book, "A Homeless Christmas," was based on a similar concept. Plunge yourself into homelessness and start learning as much as possible.
HOMELESS IN AFRICA is a travel journal with a difference. Nima Farzaneh, a privileged Canadian, wanted to experience the life of the impoverished in Africa. Traveling to the furthest point from home (Madagascar) and making his way back without flying again. This journal offers an almost day by day account of this journey, which lasted close to 3 years. It provides such insight, as he not only met people on a superficial level but instead chose to live and integrate with them at a family and community level. I found Nima to have a firm set of beliefs and values, and these he carried with him as he traveled overland through 10 countries in Africa. (Madagascar, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Egypt.) Meeting the 24 families who accommodated him along the way and learning how these people impacted Nima’s life, and the value he offered to their lives is heart-warming. If this story does not change some of your beliefs about Africa, the African people, and traveling through Africa, nothing will. Follow Nima’s exceptionally personal story, which offers incredible insight and breaks the stigma of what to expect in Africa.
People who love adventures and exploring different countries. It is also of interest to those who study anthropology or social studies.
