Thanks all, for the *amazing* response to the contest. It's the title, right? :P

The response was so overwhelming, in fact, that I had some truly difficult choices just to get to the finalists round. In the end, I chose designs that embraced the "hipster" idea -- even if it meant passing on some excellent designs.

I can see how this new 6 finalists rule can be a good thing. But, for this contest at least, I am not a fan. I would have preferred the chance to continue working with several more of you...

@Zdkfreelance - It takes a big person to admit they're wrong, especially in a public forum... You brought the criticism upon yourself by threatening to report everyone for using stock images... Relax and enjoy the ride. Who knows, you might even win a contest or two, but it's not easy.

@gregcz , well its true I am new to 99designs. I said it since that for my clients I do not use them and it can bring problems, since some stock images are no for sell. Since they may have been already bough with full copyrights to other client. But yes, my error.

@Zdkfreelance: using an istockphoto image is not illegal as long as you disclose it to the contest holder. Maybe you're just a novice who are not yet well informed about the rules.

FWIW darts are normally thrown at dart boards, not bulls-eyes. I don't mind the bulls-eyes (some are quite nice), but don't feel restricted.

My preference is for non-stock and definitely non-purchase images. Neither of my previous two contests were won with either. It's possible that I'll chose one with stock imagery, but...

I am unsure of my ability to use the official DART logo, so I would prefer it either not be included or else included subtly.

I would like to include some of the whimsy / goofiness that comes with naming a book "Dart for Hipsters", but I realize that may be a tall order -- especially without feeling overly cheesy. I did choose the SPDY Book design largely because it felt like a comic book.

Don't feel the need to use curly braces in this design. They made more sense in the Backbone book than they do here.

@zdkfreelance - you've entered 4 contests and won "0", I don't think you've quite learned all the rules yet, and you certainly haven't earned the respect or authority to start preaching the rules.

@zdkfreelance - stock images are allowed except for use in logo design... stock images must be declared, so before you start reporting everybody - go back and read the rules...

LOL..just googeled a bit for dart...and dart vector...well I guess it would be a pain to report so many designs, so please make my work easier and withdraw by your self, other wise ill have to report 1 by 1 ... or

CH , all the designs here have stock images, witch is illegal. Its up to you. You may have problems in the future using these.

So for what I know, if this is a product to sell, the seller may have problems or even need to buy the rights for the image after this. SO , I guess almost none, if none design is actually legal and inside the 99designs rulles...

greg, very nice stock image. For someone talking about rules, you sure hit right where it hurts using stock images wich has copyrights and gives ban from 99designs...
