hahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha!
Hidup Indonesia ! :)
u must be kidding by choosing that entry ...what was the point in startng this contest?
$1000 for an "O" why didn't i think of that?..lol The CH is just as clueless as the entire Occupy movement
wow still shortlisting mode?
Haha...yeah...perhaps I would if I could get my punctuation and grammar down! I read back through and found more than an acceptable amount of errors :)
sorry for the off-subject joke... but this reminds me of Noobs from call of duty :D:D.
Joshua Brian... you should write blogs man. :) Maybe 99designs should hire you for one!
So CH show your vision, with clearing up, who has creativity and who has not. ELIMINATE or RATE. Thank you!
Joshua great comment and 99designs is only place where you have 1600 people gather for one reason!
Creativity involves the production of novel, useful products! So no rules just CH's and they vision!
Hi CreativeHouse,
we agree on another point “Any great movement starts with creativity” but my thought still stands. What makes one the judge of what is or isn’t creative. What qualifies you to judge another’s idea. My point is a lot of the comments are criticizing others opinions, you are trying to put others into a box of what “you” deem to be creative. In many ways you are working against the very thing you claim to be standing for.
Are there some crap designs in here? Definitively yes but I speak from a point of probability.- If you have this many designs, there is bound to be some crap, however, if you gather a room of high level professional designers there will also be some crap.
My question is who in here is qualified to judge what is “creative?” If a child draws a picture without using a 12 point guide, doesn’t worry about spacing and visual spotting does this mean outcome isn’t creative? If a sixty year old grandmother does the same, is it not “creative”? It may not be to your liking, it may break rules of “design” and it certainly isn’t the highest point of professionalism that money can buy. What it is, however, is nearly 1600 people participating in something that creates, regardless of whether it fits tidily into your box rules and opinions. In this contest the only person, perhaps not qualified, but with the rights to judge is the CH.
You are trying to place your “rules” on other’s work, which is very much the stifling of “creativity”.
If your point is that a whole lot of the designs are unprofessional…well…we can metaphorically shake hands and agree on that, however, that isn’t the discussion.
Just remember that every successful movement is in opposition to stifling rules and restrictive ideas, so don’t start your case against this by trying to make “creativity” conform to your personal opinion. A more sound argument and opinion would be for you to simply say “I don’t like the designs” or “I think some of them are unprofessional.” These opinions you can entitle yourself to fully, as you do have the right to judge what you do or don’t appreciate.
@ulahts , I actually agree with a lot of your points, but I think what you’re saying is over-simplified. A logo is the beginning of an identity and touches on points of branding, however, if you truly want your logo to create your company’s long term branding and identity it must start with the opinions of the owners/purchasers of that identity , not the “designer”– The Nike logo, which was created by a non-professional would be a meaningless symbol left on paper if not for the opinions and work ethic of Phil Knight. The Virgin Records icon was scrawled on a napkin but has become one of the most respected logos and brand identities in our industry, however, it would by a scrawl laying in a garbage bin if not for Richard Branson forcing it to conform to his thoughts on Virgin’s identity. If you’ve studied design, then you will of course know countless other such stories of some of our most famous marks. We can make all of the pretty pictures and beautiful scrawls we want, but in the end if must fit the company or organization leader’s ideas on its worth to leave the paper and jump into something lasting. Thus, even in this case, if the CH chooses a simply scrawled circle, it can still be a highly successful brand image and logo if it ultimately fits their opinion, assuming their opinion develops into a success.
I’ll end this with one more question for all of the critics of either the CH or the “designers” in here. What was the last thing that you did that got 1600 people involved?
funny contest!
Just a question... why were they asking for something creative and yet giving 5 star ratings to designs that are just an "O" and nothing else?
yeah the works which u don't like, pls eliminate.
Hello CH
I spotted that you not give any words to majority of the work, you can eliminate work you do not like, it is something that we need as guidelines, now we are blind and sitting in the dark!
Designers,
We are very close to a decision. The reason for the time gap is we're talking it out and thinking...
Thanks!
The Occupy.com Team
The right mark wouldn't take so long to choose. You would see it in an instant and feel confident about it.
Obviously there is a problem.
The direction is off and was governed by the ratings.
The movement is not a happy go lucky, cupcake and apple pie, Oprah group.
For obvious reasons it also shouldn't feel like BIG BUSINESS, ie, rated ones that look like: Chanel, Audi, Dunken Donuts, Target, YMCA, Overstock.com, etc. It should be serious, powerful and clever.
It is propaganda.
(Rage Against The Machine) should be the ones behind the decision making or have a voting system set up for the entire movement to judge. Being that the 1% judging this comp is way off, It only makes sense.
I suggest another 3 days of design without using an O and without ratings. Designers creativity were being repressed in only one direction. You're missing the mark, pun intended.
